Catherine Ashton, Robert Kagan, Kishore Mahbubani, and Ivo Daalder discuss the new geopolitical order emerging from Russia and China’s efforts to counter US power.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and China’s economic and military rise signify the emergence of a new geopolitical order. In this era of revived great power competition, the United States faces adversaries increasingly willing and able to challenge its global interests and project their own influence. Experts from the United States, Asia, and Europe consider what the war in Ukraine has revealed about the changing geopolitical order, and discuss whether further conflict is inevitable as the ambitions of the world’s powers collide.

Guest Speakers:
• Catherine Ashton, Former High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
• Robert Kagan, Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution
• Kishore Mahbubani, Former President, United Nations Security Council

Council Speaker:
• Ivo Daalder, President, Chicago Council on Global Affairs

On the Russian/Ukraine issue, the West and some of the speakers seemed to be under the idea the it was OK for US and NATO to ignore Russia's put-forward resolution to them at the end of 2021/beginning 2022. NATO/USA expanded their influence eastwards 5 times according to quite a few European professors, and also that Ukraine (seemed to be under the guidance to ignore the Minsk agreement) along with the support and build-up of training and weapon provided by NATO since 2015, has forced Russia into the trap set up by US/NATO. It seemed that the West was planning to sacrifice the lives of Ukraine and the exodus of refugees to Europe in order to trap Russia, followed by initiating a tsunamic sanction against Russia, and as a result hurting the whole world. Why do the European countries agree to do such a thing? Are their hands tied that they could not do anything, because if they do, they will also be sanctioned as well? Who is actually the bully?

Why did NATO insist on crossing Russia's red line and offer Ukraine NATO membership?

Stop with sanctions. Lame as hell, passive aggressive, and every single person on earth suffers from them.
You are willfully bringing economic hardship down upon everyone.

Russia and China are never closer than before. They are a heroes for all the small countries that were suppressed by the west as Rus/Chi has lead to the formation of a fair multi polar world where every country is treated equally

Well the Europeans should not have tried to expand NATO. Maybe more pressure to enforce Minsk agreements, and you could have prevented the damn war.

You must listen to the Duran and hear the analyses of Alexander Mercouris regarding Russia and the West.

Not sure why Ms Ashton is invited as a panelist. As a member of the British Labour Party, she can not speak for Europe and she can not speak for UK, if there is still a UK a year from now.
