Do You Have to be Religious to Read Tarot Cards? Drawing the High Priestess | DIY Tarot Series 3

Today I am drawing the High Priestess tarot card. She represents someone who has divine feminine energy, someone who is in touch with their emotions, and someone who is connected to the moon.

When you pull the High Priestess card in a tarot spread, it could mean that you already have the answer to the question you seek. Trust your intuition and you'll find your answer.

I'm a Christian and I really like Tarot! Most of my friends don't and even though I get where they're coming from, I can't agree with them.
My mother used to do Tarot reading as a job and I taught myself to impress her. I also picked an "angel card" every morning, which just proves your point about there being similar things to Tarot cards in religion. I don't own my own set of cards at the moment, but if I did, I would probably use it to help friends, pray and meditate.
My mother always told me that a) Tarot reading does not have to be divination and b) intent is the most important thing.


(This might be presumptuous of me (it definitely is), but I feel like we could get along. Of course I only know your internet "persona" but I would love to have someone to talk about Tarot, gems and the like. (some of my favs are Labradorite and Tiger Eye))

I’m not religious but as I was reading trying to learn tarot for my personal use. I feel like I was drawn to it. When I’m reading and all these Holy Spirit kind of made me uncomfortable. To each his/her own but I was just thinking I guess I interpret my cards with who and what I worship.

I’m designing a deck for my friend for her birthday and it’s kind of convenient that we’re in quarantine because I definitely would not have been able to do this project otherwise and while I’m doing this I’m discovering that I’m learning more about how I perceive the cards

So I have a question. If use tarot cards and Identify with atheist does that make sense? Because I am not religious and the cards aren’t tied to a specific religion. But then you said you ask a god and or deities or the answer I guess . I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've definitely heard of christian witches. And there's definitely ppl who do tarot and other witchy things who aren't pagan or wiccan. To me tarot is a tool and that tool can be used by anyone.

Well, I’m Pagan as you know, but I never really got into using Tarot cards...I much prefer casting Runes and using runes in my practice. They just seem to resonate with me more personally. I’m more your basic Hearth Witch (not Wiccan), so Runes are definately more low-magick, so maybe thats why I prefer them :). I also use pendulums a lot. Beautiful art! Looking forward to seeing more in your series.

honestly, i can't get over how incredibly similar a lot of our pagan beliefs are. normally, i'm kind of the odd pagan duck out!

I'm not really religious, believe more in that there is energy in everything, so I guess pagan leaning but to me tarot is definitely a tool. Many people don't understand it or just think the worst about it but in reality they are just cards, it's what you personally do with them that matters. Palm reading on the other hand, and I do Palm read can be a parlour trick (most of the time with a few exceptions😛 )
