My new organ is almost complete, and in this video I'll show you the latest pictures and videos that I have.

This video features pictures sent to me by Renatus, and also includes videos of the organ as it stood on Tuesday 23rd November.

In this video I also show you how the stopheads are engraved!

Let's hope that this is the final update I give you of the 'build' of the organ prior to its delivery!

00:00 | Introduction
00:42 | Picking up from where we left off in October
06:08 | Keycheeks
08:01 | Toe pistons
11:01 | Stop/Division blocks
13:22 | Brass swell pedals
14:49 | Engraving of the stopheads (including video)
18:01 | Awesome videos of the new BIS organ

I am beyond happy for you and so excited for the future of organ music, BiS, and the next generation! Congratulations on achieving this amazing milestone. Truly groundbreaking. Bespoke fonts, stop mechanisms, so much innovation happening here. And what a thrill to share the progress! Bravo!!! 🥰

This is such an incredible console! I am hoping to get going on the build process for mine soon. Unfortunately, I'm not the best organist out there, but I hope to share my music with the world once the instrument is complete. Thank you for being such an inspiration to the organ community!!

It is indeed a beautiful organ. I think you have put lots of thought into what you want in a custom instrument. Best wishes. W.

The thing making the stop heads is called a laser cutter/engraver. It has a laser tube in the back (usually 40Watts) and has mirrors that reflect the beam to where it’s needed. Can’t wait to see this organ on the channel

OMG - as our American friends would say! That looks amazing.
I just plonked four Fatar keyboards on a plank but your console is a few leagues above that.

Don't tell York Minster. The next time they need to work on their console they might want to borrow yours!
I am very happy for you - and better not mention the cost.

I think I really need to start considering a Hauptwerk setup for my church to replace a Johannus Sweelinck 370 that's more often these days out of commission.
Getting this quality in Nigeria obviously now becomes the hardest part.

This console is a beauty and mere knowing there will be no real pipes attached to something this size is blowing my mind.

im doing a woodworking education right now and seeing all those perfect curves give me pleasure haha, although i like to work more with manual labour rather then letting a machine cut out all the shapes

The machine that is used to engrave is a laser engraver. It uses the light to cut a little bit of the material away.

Magnificent craftsmanship. Can I make a small suggestion? If building or acquiring a console, pedalboard and bench they are very heavy and it is back-breaking to move for cleaning, servicing etc. I built a platform in 2 sections on casters for the organ to make it much easier to move especially into another part of the home. Essentially built from chipboard sheeting used in house flooring and braced with 45 x 45 mm timber. Each section has 6 swivel casters to spread the load. The 2 sections clip together ( I used gate hooks to stop them drifting apart ). One section holds the console and the second section the pedalboard and bench which are removed from the console and are moved separately. Suppliers of new product only sell chipboard or plywood in large sheets meaning we have to buy much more than needed. But I found building recyclers selling suitable sheets of varying sizes previously used in partitions. I bought casters (50 kg rating) very cheaply at the local discount store. And a coat of paint does wonders to hide imperfections including my workmanship. But it has reduced the risk for me of back injury. I have built another for the local organ society which need to regularly move their instrument.

Richard, congratulations on the design of the 'York' organ case, it looks magnificent. And I guess it will allow future modifications to the inside electronics as engineering advances inevitably take place.
A friend, some years ago now, received a Rieger pipe organ from that Austrian company as appreciation for his voluntary work installing a larger Rieger organ in the theatre of a state capital in Australia; his Rieger necessitated major reconstruction of the family house! Quite lovely, but your instrument has no such problems I assume.
Will you be making a new photographic backdrop for the organ? The present one is very effective providing a screen ambience.
