Insert audio in the middle of an Audacity track

There is a difference between saving and exporting.
If you chose to save project then you will save audacity project which can be opened with audacity.
This is good if you plan to finish editing later and you just need to save it for now.

To save it just go file, save project, and save project or ctrl+S.
Name it and save it.

To export audio so you can actually listen to it go export and choose the export format.
If you choose mp3 and got error, this means that you need to install lame encoder to be able to export in mp3 format.

Of course, you want maximum quality so be sure that you export in the wav format.

Just click export as wav and you are good to go.

Everything is greyed out when I try to save. I'm going to have to look for an alternative to audacity. I have no idea why this is happening. I added bass to an mp3 file and went to export, but everything is greyed out and it won't let me save the file.

WAV :: 4 8 kHz, 1536 kbps, 47, 44 MB

now I want to cut this file and to save a piece of it but in exact original specs. so what to do for that. please could you tell step by step, and if possible with supporting screenshots… thanks in advance.

I have a question if you are still available to help.
I added fx & mixed the vocals on my tracks & now want to send a copy to my friend, but audacity won’t let me save this file, saying it’s already saved. I can send it until I save it, correct. Saving isn’t the same as exporting, I know that, but if I export it using WAV, will it be possible to continue the work on the project later?

I have a weird thing going on with audacity, when im rendering files, it wont render at 24/48khz as i set it at that, but instead it renders at 24/44.1khz, even though the settings are correct, anything i can do to fix this? i did try uninstall and did again but no change.. i tried at 32/48khz and it bounces at 32bit but still at 44.1? SO strange as it was working fine the day before.
