Bottom line is that IF the UNITED STATES is ready and is willing to start war with China, instead of just talking we going to this and that it should change its one China policy first and recognize Taiwan as a sovereign nation. Outside of that policy change the United States let alone to protect Taiwan militarily, it doesn't even have any legal or otherwise ground to talk about it.In short unless you are willing and are going to step into the plate to backup your words with the risk of devastating conventional war theater nuclear war, a talk is just a talk that is as far as it gets.
