Is your engine running like a bag of nails? Won't Idle properly? Shaking out your fillings?

Headphones or good speakers are advised- i've tweaked the audio to try and focus in on the low end rumble associated with running on 3 cylinders.

From inside the cabin, you'll experience a lumpy idle, and slower response through the rev range.

If changing the coilpack doesn't resolve the issue, then it could be the wiring or the spark plug. absolute worst case scenario for a cylinder not firing is a melted piston or a dropped/bent valve, but these are rarities for standard engines.

If you've got a MK1 Audi TT it's worth calling Audi to see if your car has already had the coilpack recall done yet- if not then get on to your local dealer and get them for free!

Hi mate, great video helped me to see my coil had gone. I’m going to replace all my coils and plugs, could you point me in the right direction for some coils and plugs for a 2001 MK1 225. Cheers

I know this is an old video. Hopefully you see this comment. I just installed the upgraded R8 coil packs, but I cannot reinstall the existing N249 bracket. I have an AMU engine. Right now I have the 249 system fixed in place with zip ties. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

What coils do you recommend for 1.8T? Should I go with standard ones like Beru ZSE009 or something better?

are the coil packs engine specific?..looking on one website they all say for AWP engine only or ATP engine only..I have an AUQ..I looked on a different website and all except one had no mention whatsoever of engine type..an R8 coil conversion is a thing that exists and they wouldn't be the same engine code..the coils are just a bit longer (requiring the adaptor plates) and "0.2T" more powerful, right?..I just don't know if they're listed wrong or if 20 years ago they had coils for all the engine codes and now the AWP and ATP are all they have left in a no replenished stock..
I already don't have screw down coils which it appears I am supposed to have since there's a bunch of unused bolt holes..so I dunno..I'm about to just buy some and try them..

at least I know how to check them now..

i got viberation only sometimes not always and only in fist second of engine runnig i change injector and coil pack conectors because was in bad situation this solve car responce before change it i had a feeling that my trasmision make 1sec to responce ..only if im charge battery no viberation on fist seconds..u thing its a coilpack the dog bone or i need a batery soon?

I picked up my 01 in 2016 and have put 7k miles on it. It only has 27k on the ODO. That said, the steering wheel vibrates at idle and occasionally it takes two cranks to start. The coils and plugs are original to the car. Are these coils and plugs known to go after 21 years? I know they say its 100k mile part but I have to assume they can go early from sitting. Whats your opinion?

Quick (maybe daft) question... Are the four coil packs all identical? I take it you don't get a different coil pack for cylinder 1 as you would for cylinder 4 ... All the same part number?

Could it be a coil pack/spark plug issue when the car turns on but fails to stay on and turns off after a few seconds?

I've lost ~10-20% power and acceleration is not great, as well, running a bit rough. I replaced boost valves + gauge, cleaned MAF sensor and got slight improvement but still running rough. This week, will replace coils and spark plugs.

Need to make sure they are for your particular TT engine. Not all of them have these plug-in design. The others are held with 4 bolts each.

about 2-3cm from where you were touching and disconnecting coils there is a sticker saying "DO NOT TOUCH OR DISCONNECT COILS" , thug life -.-

He was lucky the bad coil was not on cyl 3 or 4. They're under the secondary air injection plumbing.
