I love TN passport but still giving you and thumbs up haha. I use mine for bullet journal stuff and an A5 Odyssey for longer form journaling. The TN is the perfect size for “rapid logging” and being with em everywhere in pocket. Totally get your perspective though :)

I love this genre of video so much 🤣

They save me money. I have never and will never understand TNs! Also, I hate the red TWSBI finial that ruins the aesthetic for me. Also, most of the FP community seems to be men with huge hands and huge pens, and I with my teeny tiny hands don't get it. Perfectly happy with my 14g unposted Pilot Preras and 3776. I haven't bought a single shimmer ink and not even half the sheening ones because of the pain of swirling them constantly and cleaning and whatever, though I do want a Jacques Herbin bottle.

Still getting a 3776 Soft Fine though, just out of curiosity.

The biggest thing I don't personally get is the craze for limited editions and pens worth >$1000 just because the material is... Some swirly resin? Almost the entire genre of swirly resin/celluloid/blah blah pens just seem hideous to me.

So the rumor is that TWSBI is working on coming out with a special pen in January called "Pen an Tea" Earl Grey color with tea pots on the barrel.
Ha Hahaha

shimmering inks are essentially like glitter, they go everywhere, and inks after, even if you clean super well, in the middle of writing, oh, some sparkles in the paper...

I'm with you on Shimmering inks. I won't even try them in my fountain pens out of principle.

I use my traveler’s journal and that same TWSBI mini in EF and a mint mini in F to keep my bullet journal. I do not have a glorious decorated bullet journal, just a grandly functional one! So, time and place . . . But my regular journaling setup is completely different.

I feel the same with TWSBI. I have to twist the bottom cap a bit from time to time to push the ink out and make the nib wet again.
So you're not alone. And either I am not alone. Thank you for letting me know. ♡

Idk if you changed ur thoughts since then but for the travel journal I feel exactly the same way.

But I managed to fix the issue about not laying flat and hard to write by getting an a5 leather cover with a flat spine. This way I can put 2 full a5 leucthrrums and still have room for inserts

So many people recommended Twsbi to me when I first started. My experience had been ok at best. I recently tried an Opus 88 and absolutely love it. I was worried to try since it was an eye dropper, but I love how versatile that pen is. I don’t know if it’s for a beginner. I just started swapping nibs around and it’s added a whole other level to my custom fountain pen experience.

One thing generally that irks me is cheap feeling plastic. One example is the Namiki Falcon. Nib is fun, size is good but the cap and body are a hard cheap feeling plastic. Only thing I can really compare it to is getting into the base model of a good car. It may drive well, but it's not a good place to be.

I'm with you on the Traveler's notebooks (&that style in general) I do have one leather modular notebook that is decent for what I use it for, but it's a larger A5 size... I can't deal with anything smaller than that... Lol. I only own one TWSBI, the Classic with a stub nib & I have been very happy with it, not dry at all & I like that it's an opaque body with an ink window rather than the clear plastic of their other models. I have a love/hate relationship with shimmer inks... Yes, they're pretty, but I don't find myself reaching for the pens that are inked with them so I've steered away from them. But LOVE sheening inks.

Agree that shimmer inks are overrated. I think the only one I've used and like is Emerald of Chivor, simply by the fact it's so extra that I like to use it for extra occasions. I've have it in a twsbi eco stub for 7 months and it has never clogged

With you on the TWSBI and because I like Midori paper and dry shaders they choke. Even with a wet ink they can choke a little and I have to prime the feed using the piston a little if I'm writing on a drier Rhodia. When they run wet it's so lovely but it doesn't last long before it's sipping on that ink and my stub is scratching the paper.

Looking up to see if there is a way to modify the nib to be a little wetter as it doesn't seem to be a feed issue

A TWSBI eco with a fine nib was the first pen I bought after having used two different Lamy pens with fine nibs for years. The TWSBI is the wettest writing pen of all pens I have with a fine nib: e.g. a Sailor pro gear slim (medium fine nib) or a Pilot Custom 823 (fine nib). The pen which writes even wetter than the TWSBI is the Diplomat Aero, but this I ordered with a medium nib.

Watches this just hours after buying my second TWISBI with the intent of putting shimmering kiwi ink in.

I’m a big fan of the TWISBIs, but I also write really small and fast, so flow is more suited to my style.

I love shading, don’t mind specific shimmer inks, and don’t care for sheen at all. The only shimmer inks I like are Robert Oster Rose Gilt Tynte and JH Emerald of Chivor. I’m obsessed with RGT because it isn’t so much glittery as just very metallic-y looking. The ink is viscous and the shimmer just makes it look like you’re writing with molten (rose) gold. I only use those two shimmers in one specific pen, so I don’t care if it’s not cleaned out all the way. It’s a TWSBI, so I can easily take it apart and really clean it if I choose to. I don’t like sheen unless it’s something I’ve never seen before. I do not buy dark blue inks because I’m sick of seeing the same blue with red sheen combo. It makes me queasy. I like Lamy Azurite because it’s purple with lime green sheen, which is different. Other than that, I can do without the sheen.

I have a Twsbi Diamond 580 Iris medium nib, which writes nice & wet for me. I even have Organics Studio Walden Pond in it rn, and I have found OS inks to be somewhat dry (in my Conklin flex nib, it's a bad combo of a dry nib and a dry ink). Interesting how experiences differ. Love your opinionatedness! Envious of how many $250+ pens you seem to have. Cheers.

Funny, just yesterday I was appreciating how wet my TWSBI GO was drawing. Maybe it was just because I was trying out the wettest ink I could find (Noodler's Borealis Black). Also I marvelled at how easy it was to clean, literally less than 10 seconds.
