He's referring to the film Excalibur, from 1981. In that film, the swords are so heavy that if an actor lifts one over his head, he falls on his back. And he doesn't get up, because the armor is so, so heavy. Apart from those silly exaggerations it's a good film with excellent actors, highly recommended to Star Wars fans (and it was Liam Neeson's first acting part in a big movie, IIRC).

I just realized. Im pretty sure the blade coming off the saber is intentional at the end, so he could get the full swing of cutting Vader's hand off without accidentally smacking the shit out of him.

It looked so good. Even back then they didn’t show if any footage of the light saver making of, because it kept the mystery of it. I loved the 80’s Star Wars.
