I read the book a while ago, but it's still great hearing this. The economic incentive to purport to believe in an "historical" Jesus applies to atheist and independent scholars, too. I've been disappointed to witness it from people who definitely know better.

My biggest problems with The New Testament:
Jesus never came back to gather up his faithful followers.
He believed in Satan.
He believed the end times were imminent.
He believed every jot and tittle of Jewish Law was true and should be obeyed.
He talked to himself and called it his "Father in Heaven".
He believed in Yahweh
He orchestrated his own arrest and crucifixion when he could have easily escaped and continued with his mission.
After his death, human suffering and injustice continued.
The Resurrection account proved that humans can create, copy and sell stories to generations of desperate people that offer a separate reality based on visions, dreams and desire driven hallucinations.

Well I think that there was a Jesus who became deified I do not of course believe that Jesus as described in the Bible is a real individual. But I will say that I do think that Christianity came about as a result of several movements that a Jesus was a part of and that that Jesus became deified by probably Paul

Wow, this is really poor scholarship. Follow your own sin and you will inevitably erase anything to allow it to continue. Even neophyte apologetic students could dismiss this. Try harder next time.
