My guess is that she was auditioning for Oklahoma or Kiss Me Kate. She booked WSS while she was a senior in high school which was 2019 and asked for them to let her do the show. So she would've been cast in late 2018/early 2019. So the timeline works for those two shows. She isn't known for dancing so KmK seems unlikely. So my guess is that she was going for Laurie in west side Story. A role she'll probably do sooner rather than later.

She’s extremely talented and wonderful in her shows and movies. But what makes her so dislikeable as a person is her arrogance and lack of self-awareness. This question has been asked of so many actors and the answer is always self-deprecating. They’ll say something like “I froze on the spot and forgot all my lines” or “I’d prepared for this character but only realised just before they said ‘go’ that the character was a robot and then I improvised all these terrible robot moves”. Or “I thought I’d dye my hair red like the character but when i did it the night before it went wrong and I turned up with hideous pink hair”.

And I was expecting Zegler to do the same but no, her story, of course, was about how others did something wrong. She’s not wrong that the producers were out of line but it comes across like she thinks she does nothing wrong. And we like flaws in people.
