Did a bit of research (I speak no Icelandic, but some German). Here is the best translation I could come up with (trying to use what I know from the game to change what's in the video a little). Let me know what you think.

Útlægr Guð (Exiled God) (Faye to Kratos)

Þið finnið leið fetið sannleikans með (You shall find a way to walk with the truth)
æskulög þín eini harmur minn er (Your ashen law is my only regret)
hríð og uppgerð brotin efndi ég til (To storm and pretense, broken I commit)
síðar munt sjá und frelsaðu þér. (Later you shall see, and free yourself.)

Von móður (Mother's Hope) (Faye to Atreus)

Síðar munt sjá hana frelsa munt þér (Later you shall see her, you'll free yourself)
fylg minni leið ei til sannleikans beð (follow my path, not to truth's rest)
æskuljóð þín eini harmur minn er... (your ashen song is my only regret...)


Faye has died and consoles Kratos, telling him that he will find a way to reconcile the truth (to tell his son who he is), and her son, Atreus, does not know the truth of her. She has resigned herself to doom and deceit--she has died and cannot tell him the truth, but soon he shall find out and be freed, when "later he shall see [Freya]".

æskulög and æskuljóð gave me the most trouble. Danish 'æske' comes from Old Norse 'askr', which means ash. In Icelandic, 'æska' means youth. 'Law of youth' makes no sense to me, not that 'ashen law' makes much more, but perhaps it is in reference to how Kratos's past follows and haunts him wherever he goes (his skin anointed with the ashes of his family). His dark past is all Faye regrets.

'jóð' means 'baby', while 'ljóð' means 'poem', so 'æskuljóð' could mean 'small child', 'song of youth', 'ashen song', 'ashen babe'... Those two lines are tricky. I'd love input from a native speaker of Icelandic. I suspect I got a lot wrong.

From what I’m reading of the translations in the comments, after Kratos came to Midgard Faye saw the broken and tortured man within him, not the mad “Ghost of Sparta” he’d become known as in Greece.
Putting him and Atreus on their path to realization, redemption, and eventual peace really was her gift to them

I think this is what the proper translation looks like:

She knew of Kratos's past, his pain of regret but she still loved him and redeemed his soul, finally allowing him to find forgiveness. As for Atreus's message,

follow my path, regardless of the truth,


My ashes, my sorrow.
