This tutorial explains exactly how to import and export SVG, DXF and PDF files in Vactric Vcarve desktop, pro and Aspire. Importing and exporting make it easy to create stuff others have designed and given to you. Or visa versa.

This is a great way to share files as well.

Exporting and importing files is an easy process. When you purchase vector files, follow these steps to bring them into your software.

EXPORTING
1. Save your project
2. Click [file], [export] and select the format you want to save the vector file to (DXF, PDF, SVG, EPS, AI)
3. Name the file

IMPORTING
1. Click [file], [import]
2. click [import vectors]
3. Select the file (any type)

How can you edit an imported dxf file. Like using the Scissor to cut out certain sections of a line. For some reason I can’t. It won’t even let me explode it.

Garrett, bless you for all your work in helping beginners in getting started. As a newbie I love your videos. I have a question about 4 axis files. When I create my design in vCarve (Vectric software), then go to the tool path side and create the tool path I save it as I would any file, placing it in a specific place on my hard drive. When I open those files in gSender to start running a job (after setting the router up, of course) I get a message telling me a 4 Axis file has been loaded and is not supported at this time. Where do I go from here? Thanks.

Hey, Garrett. Thanks for all the videos! Do you have (or can you make) a video walking through the entire process? from a simple design. To assigning tool paths, saving the code files, and finally setting up the machine and running the project.

Good afternoon sir. As a retired Georgia State Trooper I am interested and cutting a 3D version of my badge. I purchased the file on Etsy; however, I need to add my badge number. Do you have a video explaining this process? Thanks,
Scott Thompson, new member to your group!

Hi Garrett, I value your expertise. I am a pro visual designer, and I learn something in your channel. I have been searching on how to make my Own 3d reliefs for carving but haven’t found anything solid. Do you have any insights? Appreciate your help.

Is vcarve almost the same as lightburn. I just want to make files to dxf to put on my cnc machine. And I already have lightburn. Thanks

Please help. Intermediate user and I've hit a wall I can't get around. I have some clip art and converted it to an SVG file, I then imported the file into Vcarve Desktop. For ease of explanation, here's what I am trying to do. Example: The SVG file is a 1/4 inch thick line, but vcarve wants to trace around the line creating two separate paths on the inner and outer sides instead of one path down the middle creating the 1/4 inch line. Did that make sense? How can I do this?

Thanks for the video. I am new to cnc and computers. I have been watching your videos and trying to figure it all out. I am currently using the Vcarve pro trial version and it won't let me exports files. Do I need to buy the program to actually send these files to my cnc or am I missing something.

How do you make newer files back compatible with older versions of V Carve?

Thanks for the video. Using Vcarve for work to route simple shapes. Very helpful to get so many tips in one place on one video. EPS stands for encapsulated postscript file which is a vector file much like the Ai (Adobe Illustrator) file but more versatile in application and not limited to Adobe programs. Both use code to scale and image creating a vectored image rather than using pixels in a given space that will distort when scaled. All that to say they are both used for printing purposes usually.

I love that font! I wish I seen these video's when I first started with vectric software. Keep it up, you are helping new users a lot!

Garrett, .ai is an Adobe Illustrator file format for vector graphics. EPS is similar to a .ai file and a standard for print graphics. .svg are vector graphics generally focused on web display.

Thank you for providing these helpful videos. My question is; these Vectors are already downloaded, where do I actually find the vectors myself to download them ( in the pieces) not as the entire project already finished by you? Thank you
