August Book Haul

I'm a very lucky girl. Most of the books in this haul came from an author and a couple of publishers too! Lots of historical fiction in this one, guys!

Yes!! I just bought the beginning of the world in the middle of the night the other day and read it in one night, and wow! What a stunning collection. It was just a lovely read! And the cover is incredible

Alex is great book, really twisted and dark and a bit graphic.My head is still spinning from many twists and superb ending.One of the best crime thrillers. :)

I have read all of Karin Slaughter's books and I think you will enjoy her detective series, they are so good. You should begin with the Grant County series book 1 Blindsighted book first. I am looking forward to hearing what you think of her new one coming out in Aug as I cannot wait to read that one.

I bought Blood Wedding because of you and now I want to read it IMMEDIATELY and I have no room in August and why do you this to me 😅 I think I'm going to pick up his three part series (I think it starts with Camille?) because it sounds kind of great.

Just added Becoming Belle to my wishlist! I also dropped everything I was reading this week for a new book. I've been collecting the gorgeous Virago modern classics and received Good Behavior by Molly Keane (with intro by Maggie O'Farrell!) a couple days ago. I read the first few pages to preview and got sucked right in lol. I'm almost finished with it now, and it's such a great book! Have you read it?

Great book haul 📚 I need to pick up a few of these books. I just checked and I don't think The Hour of the Fox is available in the UK, I will keep my eye on it! I have gone a little crazy buying books this last week 😳I just received Dead Girls this morning and can't wait to read it for Thrillerathon. I also bought The Good Daughter as everyone raves about it however I am nervous about the graphic scenes 😱

I don't usually like detective series either however, Karin Slaughter is so talented that it doesn't take any enjoyment out of the experience.

I just recently devoured Pretty Girls and The Good Daughter by Slaughter and I'm curious about her other books, but I'm like you, I'm unsure about the detective side of thrillers. Part of why I loved the two I read was the fact that it was more family centered and that they had no background in detective work. I think I'm going to check out the British editions of the series you mentioned as well. :)

I"m a great one for short stories so "The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night" stands out for me. Currently I'm reading a short-story collection about the American Midwest, "Good-bye, Wisconsin" by Glenway Westcott. The author was a distinguished writer many years ago (a couple of the stories were published in the 1920's) but now seems to be mostly forgotten.
