Sure they could pass a bill to sue OPEC but it’s not like it would do anything, even if it was overseen by a UN court, they’re not only well within their rights to not abide by the US’s requests as sovereign nations. Plus even if the US won, there’s no enforcement mechanism, they’d just say “oh well, go kick rocks”

So, Republicans joining Brandon and supporting this bill are hypocrites. On one hand, they call out Brandon for cutting oil production in the US, on the other hand, they help Brandon put the blame on OPEC for higher oil prices. SMH 😮

American oil companies need to keep the oil that they dig from US lands here in America, not sell it on the world market. Natural resources belong to the people. Also we need to go into clean energy. How long can the middle class survive these prices. Congress needs to act.

Opec was sued by the airline mechanics union in the 70s . Scalia represented opec member Indonesia in the case . They used a " sovereign immunity" defense and won. Grassley now wants to remove that defense by legislation so I hope they pass it . See, Jacob's book " panic at the pump " wherein you will see how opec got price leverage by Nixon lifting the oil import quota as ExxonMobil and other majors could make more money by being the intermediary shipper rather than actually pumping domestic oil. Dovetailed with environmental concerns the economic lever of price was put in foreign hands against the will of American consumers. But cartels cheat on one another and to keep market share they invest in weapons and start wars see Iran Iraq war Iraq quwait Iraq Saudia Arabia desert storm 1 and 2 where we are in the position of having to break up the fighting . Vicious circle better to be self reliant .
