There’s an angry Corolla in there trying to get out.

To be fair, the only time the 4Runner sounded good was when the 4th gens had a V8.

Going to take some adjusting from being able to spot a V6 Tacoma and 4Runner from around a blind corner with that new exhaust note.

i don't want to hurt toyota engineer feelings but bro it sounds like corolla
look at the size of those tires, they deserve to be propelled by v6 or i6 or v8 at least

Awesome vehicle. That's letdown by pathetic exhaust. That vehicle needs a V8. Or, at the very least, a supercharged V6.

Are we gonna act like we were looking forward to and expecting a Toyota suv to sound good? If the GR Corolla and Supra and 86 sound bad - sure I’d be pissed.. but the 4Runner????

I actually really like these new 4 runners. Just wish Toyota would focus on keeping its prices decent on its more fun vechiles while keeping older tried and true last forever engines like the jz and mz engine versions. My first Toyota was a 2000 toyota solara Sle edition v6 edition with trd performance only options it did not have was the gold trim, the manual transmission and the convertible top. Other then that fully loaded top to bottom but unfortunately as fun to drive, reliable, good performance especially considering the weight, but between weight and rust Toyota isn't great with the North America tundra of North us and all of Canada destroyed the solaras bodies along with the camarys. But unlike the Camry the solaras the camarys were winter driven all the time and were four doors and were built better for the frame. Where the solaras we rarely drove them in winter and still our frames would bent become warped and if we drove them in the winter the bodies would actually whole up not too bad but the frame would be eaten as soon as the frame started warping and the engines electronics brake lines oil lines would be eaten as if it were salt on open wounds. Toyota was my favourite car I've owned and one of the most liked and best made and most parts but with the horrible frame and horrible rust attracting wires and frame made the car useless to buy. Everyone I know had a solara with a bent frame small to minor rust but destroyed frame and electronics and wires eaten to death my any salt or summer issues, exhaust leaks in to the cabin through heat making it impossible to use the heat along with a stupid engine placement with the v6 to try to fix anything. But performance comfortable riding quality huge gas tank okay on gas considering size and performance luxury I twripr was great along side it's big car luxury looks water bed style driving while still having enough power to hold you back in you're seat. And the looks was almost identical interior and exterior to a 96 Buick Riviera which looked about as nice as a Cadillac deville and very werid but nice and different looking. Was definitely a car everyone would got inside mine let alone drove one fell in love with unless you owned one then you'd love it but also hate it and never get over losing the car even those all the stupid small issues. If Toyota kept the solaras as if but just modernize it a little and fix its issues but kept it the same and not sell it for crazy amount. And give us good performance 1 of a kind full size huge luxury car well made luxury features amazing Lincoln style driving with Cadillac style power with Lincoln style comfort and Toyota reliability could of been one of the best cars of the 21st century and the Lexus version which wad rwd instead of fwd was so much better but was more expensive and was more a sports car than a luxury car. And wasn't as easy to buy and came with the same issues if the solara adopting rwd and got its problems fixed then modernized the small things I would buy another and keep it for decades upon decades
