I'm returning my IdeaPad Pro 5 14" because of the fan noise.
I'm just browsing, 4% CPU usage, CPU is at 36° C and my fans are on and annoyingly loud.

Just received my Ideapad Pro 5 14", with the AMD 7840HS. As others have mentioned fans are coming on at 30c and ramping up thereafter, and rather distracting. Whilst otherwise it's a nice device, good build quality, like the touchpad and display, there is no need for the fans to be on a such low temps whilst doing basic web browsing etc,

Please release a BIOS update to fix the fan curve/issues!.

I own the Ideapad 5 pro 14 with the Ryzen 7 7840HS. I like the device, but I don‘t understand why the fans are running at CPU temperatures at 30 degrees celsius?! I hope Lenovo will very soon change fan curves in a bios update.

This also affects the 14" Version with AMD CPU. Please change the fan curve.

I purchased the 14 inch version with the Ryzen 7840HS (14APH8) and I'm also having the issue that the fans are always spinning (Idle, CPU load: 2%, CPU Core Temp: 32c). Please fix the fan curves with a BIOS update.

bad fan settings unfortunally for the 14inch version :( not recommended to buy this product before that gets fixed (hardcoded into BIOS, cannot be changed by the user).
what is the issue you might ask? The fans turn on once the CPU/GPU is above 30 and ramp up once its above 35 and become noisy. As this is the normal idle temp of the hardware, the fans are basically always on and annoying. Other laptops of this category are passivly cooled until like 45°C and thus are dead quiet while faced with easy task (browsing, watching videos ... the usual stuff).

Fans are always on in IDLE. There is no need for the fans to turn on. I‘m hopping for a great fix!

Unfortunately, the fan control and the associated volume in small to medium load scenarios is a disaster! I really like the notebook and the hardware is very up-to-date but please please Lenovo fixe the bad fan curve and make the notebook quiet!

This is a really great notebook, it's super fast and has a great display. However, the fan noise when idling is far too loud and ruins the great overall impression. I hope for a quick bios update

I was considering buying this laptop. After reading the fan issue throughout the comments, I talked to the online sales support via chat on Lenovo's webpage, and asked if they are trying to fix it. They told me that they don't have any complaints, and add that this comments are "things" that people writes on Internet... I don't think they are planning to fix it...

I bought the very same model because i love my old ideapad 5 4500U and the new one has backlight bleeding... the service of your german lenovo website team takes ages to do something

I have the 14inch version with AMD Ryzen 7840hs. The fan is running permanently, even in idle on mild web browsing. The CPU temp is very low and its totally not necessarily that the fans are running. I must send my device back, its not usable... Lenovo please make a Bios Update for the 16 and 14 inch versions.

Cooling sucks on the AMD 780M version if this new series !The fans are running all the time blowing out COLD air although the system itsself is cool and doing nothing . There are plenty of new owners reporting this bug. Urgent time for a Bios update!!!! The sound is really annoying although I come from an old MSI system from 2017 which has never been quit. Lenovo should put more effort in quality control of their new systems instead of pushing new products every week!
