My associaton w/ David and Paul has been educational and positive and they have both been so supportive of me.
Yes; I built that test guitar while consulting for Collings, and David, Paul and I used it on the DGT pickup thing. But here's the thing about David and Paul: They are both VERY tonally aware. ( !!!) David has been in my shop, and shown me his ability to "squeeze" tone out of a messed up acoustic guitar to the point of making my jaw drop.
E. Johnson showed me that too, way back when ... . I may have helped these folks, but they have all been my teachers (in the extreme). Paul and David are both generous, open, and real.
The reason the DGT is so good is their unending dedication to excellence, and the openness, and DRIVE ( both analytical and instinctual) that's needed to go above and beyond.
Thanks for mentioning my name, David. That's nice. What's more nice is to be gifted w/ knowing folks like you and Paul. There's not one HINT of mediocrity, settling for less, or complacency with those two.
Just 2 guys continously pushing the envelope. .... Pretty cool.

Not dissing the DGT but Tim will make any guitar sing

PRS makes wonderful guitars, and this one sounds a little more like a vintage instrument to me. And Tim could literally make a shoe lace on a broomstick sound awesome!!

Love how you dropped that tuning and went straight in Zep without missing a beat

I've never seen a video by this guy before. Now I want to watch ALL of his videos. His playing is incredible and seemingly effortless. Amazing ...

Love Paul's guitars. I had a CE24 I purched in the 1992 and loved it. We as a family fell on hard times in 2005 and I had to sell it and all my gear to keep a roof over our heads. It's now 2023 and I am slowly getting back to playing and acquiring gear again and Tim is killing my GAS syndrome at the moment. Well I guess to Sweetwater I go this weekend.

I love this guitar so much I bought two. Not for a backup or any other reason but to compare two side beside for quality and playability. I bought two several serial numbers apart and they are flawless and the best most affordable PRS Ever!!! I am so hooked on this guitar because it eliminates the need for a tele, strat and a Les Paul for a gig. I did decide that the second guitar would just be used for open tuning stuff. I have to adjust the tremolo due to the lower string tension in open ED or G. Once I balanced the tremolo for all three tunings, and a small neck adjustment, that guitar is so powerful in helping me write and play riffs like no other guitar I have own. I can play all night and get every sound ever heard on record using this SE!!! I did do a mod in which in the middle pickup selection on the switch, I can lower the neck or bridge volume off without the sound shutting off with either one to zero. Now I can always stay in the middle switch and dial all bridge or neck with one volume off without losing anything. Just blending tone all the time with my ears and I love that. Much like Billy Gs pinstripe Gold Too, no selector switch, and it works best for me as that pickup selector is out of the way and a bit hard to get to when using coil tap and wanting a blend of bridge and neck…. Losing the switch is not a bad idea for this wonderful guitar.

NO one sounds like DG. He stays on his own path and knows where he is going. Respect!

Yes Tim has so many sounds in his fingers. Such a groove always. Led Zep is the cherry on top.

Tim's reviews are so good and he is so joyful just to share his thoughts on these guitars.

Grissom is one of those dudes...like kind of unknown, but respected... He's been doing it for a long time, I did some sessions with him... Really good, tasteful, 'play for the song' kind of guy. He's got it in the hands. His notes are HIS. Am so happy he's getting the recognition he really deserves.

Awesome story Tim. I’ve been watching your videos for a while but I’ve been listening to and admiring your work for much longer than that on all those various songs and albums you have been a part of. I believe you truly deserve to be in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame.

Sounds great! Somehow I don’t think it will sound as good when I play it. Thanks for a great channel!

Ten Years Gone! It has always been my favourite Zeppelin song. From the age of 10 to 50, it is one of the few songs that has changed how it makes me feel the older I get.

This is great news Tim. I love PRS SE guitars, I always wait for the SE versions, and they are just getting better and better.

In 1981, I started taking lessons from a phenomenally talented DC-area guitarist named Bill Kotapish (of 70s-80s prog rock band 'However'). Bill's main guitar was one of Paul's earlier builds, from his parents' house in Annapolis, MD.

It had nearly all the features of modern PRS guitars, including the exact same bird inlays and highly carved top, though the body was solid mahogany (no maple cap). The two pickups were old Gibson P90s, which I believe had been fitted into rosewood(?) cases and mounting rings. It also had Schaller's slightly more adjustable take on the Junior's one-piece stud-mounted bridge. The entire front back and neck had a beautiful mahogany stain, with a satin finish, and just a bit of woodgrain texture...organic in a sort of 70's / Alembic kind of way, but more "rock". It was SO beautiful and played like butter.

Okay, so maybe the DGT doesn't have the bird inlays or Paul's sweat on it, but it's phenomenal how modern guitar manufacturing techniques have advanced to the point that a guitar that a person might grow with for a lifetime is available for under $1K. What a great achievement!

Great! This will certainly allow a lot of players to avail themselves. Of course great players such as you can make any instruments sing, and at the same time a fine tool can inspire said.
I just started your Masterclass Tim, here in Thailand where I've been playing and teaching for 20 years. Back then, no YouTube, access, etc.. hence, sincere appreciation for all your work since the beginning.

Tim, honestly it is a joy to just watch you play. I know how hard you worked to make this "joy" seem effortless. Any day I can play it's a great day! Btw, that is the very best PRS I've ever heard. I would love to hear that through a Fender 65'. Great video, keep roc'in!
