I always thought it was the opposite. Put Almighty God on the "Almighty dollar" and by the transitive property of algebra, the dollar *IS* God. For many people it already works this way anyways.

I am a Christian but the phrase in God we trust was not put on money until the 1950s. Saying false things to try to prove an unprovable point only makes Christians look foolish.
