In today's video we're talking all about protein! How much protein do you need, protein myths, and more. I always recommend to eat enough protein because there are so many great protein benefits. But you're probably wondering, how much protein do I need? Am I getting enough protein? What amount of protein is best for me? What should my protein goal be?

There is a best amount of protein that you should be eating which I'll help you figure out today.

The equations:
Lean body mass method:
0.8g protein x lean body mass in lbs = lower recommendation
1.2g protein x lean body mass in lbs = higher recommendation

1.8g x lean body mass in kg = lower recommendation
2.6 x lean body mass in kg = higher recommendation

Goal weight method:
0.7g x goal weight in lbs = lower recommendation
1g x goal weight in lbs = higher recommendation

1.6g x goal weight in lbs = lower recommendation
2.2g x goal weight in kg = higher recommendation

I've been vegetarian for a long time. Since quarantine started, I've been cooking less and going for easier foods due to my depression kicking in. I haven't been gaining weight but I'm definitely not eating enough protein since it's mostly carbs I pick up. I'm going to use this video to start trying to cook more and eat more protein, it'll probably help my energy levels too. Thank you for doing this <3 <3

How did you know I needed this video lol. I just started tracking my protein intake 2 days ago because I found out it’s importance and found out I don’t eat enough protein at all and I was kind of panicking so thank you for this video it lessened my anxiety!

Im so glad you talked about this. I've been really trying to get healthier but the price of all these protein snacks, supplements, & food is EXPENSIVE. With the number I came up with it's very doable & affordable

that comment about same weight looking very different on different heights is sooo important for people who are focused on numbers. My roommate is 5'8 and I am 5'3 and my highest weight is her being skinny.

I worked out for years thinking I was a hard gainer, but the reallity is I just had a lousy. I then tried the Agoge Diet, and started seeing much faster and better results.

A joined a basic nutrition course with a coach at my gym a little while ago and started to get worried about not hitting my protein goals. I was reaching my calorie goals but not my protein. And the best thing he said to me was 'are you eating more than you were before? Then that's a success. Keep working on it and don't worry too much about it' and that same week I hit some lifting PBs! :D
