One thing I've always wondered is, why are a lot of albums mastered by a different person that mixed it? I very often see "Mixed by: Person 1 - Mastered by: Person 2"

Wouldn't it make more sense for the person that mixed it to also master it?

Why are you using Linear Phase EQ instead of Natural Phase for mastering? I've heard Natural Phase also provides good mastering results.

Wouldn't a stero widerner bring up phase problems? Wouldn't a mid-side EQ be better?

How do you tell is it really destroying or not? Especially with heavy music, it is hard to tell with just your ears sometimes? Are there any methods for that?

people say to keep the bass in mono, is there a way to widen only the mids and highs?
