You should've saved this for April fool's and busted out a Festool Domino to do the work. Would've been hilarious

This brings back happy memories of watching The Woodwright's Shop on public television as a child. ♥️

i love traditional carpentry techniques. when the world is full of festools with insane jigs and cnc’s and wild computerized, automated machines, these techniques become at risk of dying out. thank you for documenting and archiving these online. it’s easier to get into woodworking than a lot of people would expect.

For those curious about his phrase "Die dog, or shite the hatchet":

This is speculation, but I think he's referencing the work of British author Adam Howe and his book "Die dog, or eat the hatchet", but the changing of "Die dog, or shite the hatchet" means essentially the same thing just further in the process.

I believe it essentially means "A or B is GOING to happen from action X, but we won't know until we try X"

Why is this so much more satisfying to watch then Dusty Lumber and a hollow chisel mortiser.
Btw, a mortising chisel is also called a firmer chisel.
Love this channel

The 1868 Mansion I volunteer at, is one of the last American homes built using mortise and tenon joinery, with oak beams. All of the walls are 3 layers of brick, it’s an absolute fortress! Loved the video.
