I believe Nami's parallel in the new world may actually be Momonosuke.
Both of them suffered a loss because of the villain of the last arc, neither of them actually talks about it until much later in the story and both ask for Luffy's help

Something I would like to add is that Syrup Village was Usopp's arc where he had to grapple with the consequences of his lies whereas Dressrosa was also his arc and he had to overcome his lies to become who he said he was. Also Syrup Village ended with everybody thinking Usopp was still lying whereas Dressrosa was the arc that gave Usopp his first actual bounty (unmasked).
Similarly, Baratie featured a Gold armored villain threating to kill Zeff and claiming that his technology was how he would conquer the grand line but being outclassed by Mihawk, whereas Whole Cake Island featured a gold armored villain, threatening to kill Zeff, while claiming his technology would help him conquer the North Blue but being outclassed by Big Mom.

So Gaimon guarding a treasure that wasn't really there foreshadowed the minks protecting Raizo who "wasn't there"?

Good theory. One point on the island of strange animals- We know Oda sometimes works with the anime people to correct or add things. The island of strange animals arc comes after syrup village in the anime, making your theory a bit better.

I've never commented on a video of yours, but I just wanna say this - I really appreciate how much effort you put into filling your videos with quality analysis and no-frills One Piece discussion. Many other content creators put out videos where 30% of the content is jokes, ads, or even plagiarism in some cases.

Of course, there's a time and place for those kinds of videos (except for the plagiarism, of course), and I do watch many other One Piece creators alongside you.

But I just really appreciate knowing that I can come to one of your videos anytime for thought-provoking discussion about consistently interesting topics, as well as original ideas that come from somebody who isn't afraid to go against the grain. And the best part is that the quality content is from START to FINISH of each video. Keep up the good work!

I think when Oda is brainstorming arcs, he just goes back to previous arcs and draws out a plan from that. That's why we always feel like everything is foreshadowed when he might just be taking some stuff that are similar in previous arcs

Arlong is equivalent to Kaidou: I sleep
Gaimon's Island was foreshadowing to Zou: REAL SHIT?

In that case, would it be safe to assume that the final saga will parallel the Paradise Grand Line arcs?

Starting with:
Little Garden -> Elbaf

All the way to:
Marineford -> Final War

Then finally:
Fishman Island -> Strawhats revisiting Fishman Island and "destroying" it (uniting the world)

Not only Nami//Law, the first thing I thought about was Nami//Momo. They were both the sign of hope that Cocoyashi//Wano were waiting for, they were introduced in the fist island and their problem comes to a solution in the last.

This is the kind of morj content i fell in love with. Analysis. Theories and weekly reviews isnt suited for him. In terms of analysing onepiece no one does it better than morj.

I noted this in a reply, but I just figured it would be cool to post it on its own.
I love how Nami was covering a lot of different character's roles in the East Blue (Or Nami's role was so expansive that it had to be split amongst a billion characters lol).
1. She definitely parallels Law in role (the alliance) and backstory (Navy sailor adopts them and dies for them in front of them by gunshot, with their last words being 'I love you').
2. She covered Oden's role. Misunderstood hero tries to protect their village through non-violent means (earning money v. dancing). Became a social pariah as a result, but before the final confrontation their home becomes aware of their sacrifice.
3. Momo for being the scary monster's victim and keeping it a secret for as long as possible. Also, both of them were the non-violent heroes of their respective arcs (encouraging people to not give up on Luffy and asking the samurai/villagers to risk it all).

The entrace to wano and chapter 2 of the manga is the most direct parallel for me, Luffy enters a whirlpool and lands in an island where Alvida, a big character with a gigant metal bat with spikes is staying there.

Another similarity is that luffy stayed behind in baratie to get sanji to join them while leaving zoro in charge in arlong park and he also stays behind to get sanji back from WCI while leaving zoro in charge in wano

Yo, a lot of times I think people go too far reaching for "parallels, " however, in this instance it makes a lot of sense. Great theory!

The parallels between the east blue arcs and the new world arcs is actually mindblowing
The quote on quote path that they follow in both the new world and east blue is pretty similar and their results are also similar
Such incredible and out of this world story writing right there

You can draw this parallel greater among the grand line arcs. Return to sabaody is louge town. Fishman island is reverse mountain. Punk hazard is a combo of all the alabasta set up arcs, whisky peak, little garden, & drum. Alabasta and dressrosa have tons of intentional similarities. Whole cake is skypia as an adventure in a fantasy land. Wano is the water 7 saga. The Strawhat power ups are akin to their power ups we saw at enies lobby. So egg head as thriller bark / sabaody and the final arc will set into motion the final war obviously going to reflect marineford.

The raid failing was foreshadowed from chapter 1.

That “gag” character from the first arc is now a yonko

in syrup village, usopp lies and says leads a pirate fleet. in dressrosa, he actually leads them and starts the straw hat grand fleet

I think that the final arcs will parallel The Grand Line to some extent. Little Garden > Elbalf. Jaya > Raftel. Possibly a Enies Lobby > Sabo rescue parallel. And of course Marine Ford > Final War parallel. Not 1 to 1 by any means, but that's vaguely how I imagine things will go.
