Would be wonderful if there were street vendors here in the US selling their style of food

I've been to Taiwan and would say the food there is very tasty. Taiwanese beef noodle soup is so good. Gua-bao's are good. Night markets are such an experience. The variety of fresh tropical fruits is terrific, which in turn translates to innumerable delicious boba drinks, fresh sorbets, shaved ice, and other frozen treats (their 7-Elevens have good popsicles). There are really good Asian bakeries there with yummy breads, pastries, and mochi based offerings. Being an island nation it also has a depth of seafood offerings. It is a melting pot of Chinese cuisine but also has Japanese and Western influences. Wei chuan and Ten Ren are based in Taiwan so there are good quality dumpling/buns and tea offerings. One thing they do poorly is hot dogs (but you don't go to Taiwan to eat hot dogs).

I’m from Taiwan and currently live in the US. I have been following you for years and so glad to see your hubby and cute little son. Shilin Night Market is actually touristy and overpriced. So next time you go to Taipei, I suggest that you should visit these 2 night markets instead:

Raohe Night Market (it is still touristy but it has some Michelin good finds. Although I don’t know why Google has to translate “mochi” into “paralyzed”…lol):

Ningxia Night Market (I know you like sticky rice balls but promise me you won’t eat those first otherwise you will be too stuffed to eat other good food!):

good vd, I also have followed you since Germany, I like this format, I have always traveled to go eat, my first stops are usually fresh markets, then local food, sightseeing is secondary
keep up the good work

Con trai của bạn đẹp trai. Tôi sẽ sống gần Đà Nẵng sớm thôi. Có lẽ tôi sẽ gặp bạn trên thị trường một ngày nào đó.
Your son is handsome. I will live close to Da Nang very soon. Perhaps I will see you in the market some day.
I think you will find a way to incorporate the Taiwanese ingredients and techniques into your cooking.
