God I am SO happy that this is actually being endorsed by the official blog because it means we could be getting the first community-created update in 10 YEARS

Remember guys, this is a COMMUNITY PROJECT and is NOT supported by Valve. As much as I wish it was, it just isn’ as of right now

I need to remind the tf2 community as a whole that this is a COMMUNITY PROJECT. NOT an official update that is FOR SURE going to happen. Just because Valve posted about it on the blog doesn't mean that it's 100% going to be added to the game. It's just a bunch of people getting together to make cool themed stuff together.

This is the make or break point of tf2's future. If it works, we might get more projects, if it fails, valves trust in the community will erode even more than it had in invasion

hello I want to start investing, but i am unsure where to start, do you have any advice or contacts for assistance?

I know this is insanely unlikely, but can you imagine if valve completely supported this and added it as an official community made update to the game? that would be awesome!

I don't expect anything much beyond cosmetic stuff, hopefully they're of good quality and so are the maps, the cosmetics we've been getting in recent 2-3 years were of really good quality over the slop we were having

tf2 community on their way to create another fan major update for tf2 which will never see the light of day because of valve

forgotten Community update: what about us

The amount of false hope is sad. I dislike how the writer of the News post formulated it in such way that it sounds like an official Valve blogpost. It isn't. It's on the NEWS tab, which any semi decent TF2 community event can email Valve and get on the News tab. This is just another tropic crisis, Valve is going to add Gold Star (super easy to put in the game) cosmetics regardless of if they have a theme or not. It's great that the community can envision coming together, but this is not a community update. It's not another Invasion. This is simply the community trying to force a theme for the next summer update - which is fine. Whatever is on the workshop and is Gold Star and has enough ratings will get in - and if thats all apart of a same theme or community project, Valve doesn't care.

One of my main criticisms for community updates are that I would very much like to see themes in the update that are believable when compared to the art style and lore of tf2. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to probably love this update, but I really like what valve did with MvM for example. They expanded the lore of tf2 in a believable way with most of the maps still looking like they are taking place in the gravel wars area. I am concerned that for me the maps in this update will resemble carnival rides more than a location in the tf2 universe.
