How To Change Default SMS App On Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ or S24 Ultra

If I was to change this to another SMS App, would it get rid of all of the text messages now on my Phone.. If that doesn't work if I reset my phone to factory, would that also get rid of the messages on my phone.. I want to get rid of them, and don't want to delete one at a time, that would take too long. This is ridiculous. Can't believe in 2024 I am having an issue with trying to text longer messages with a 160 character limit this never happened on my galaxy s21
