Bottom line: Don’t Get Scammed

USE 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION - use it on your email too
Never give away your private keys (or store them online where they’re accessible)

Use a hardware wallet

Don’t keep your money on exchanges long-term
Don’t click on Google Ads

Don’t fall for Slack or Telegram messages and phishing attempts

Don’t listen to “guaranteed” return on investment

Don’t invest in fraudulent ICO’s (See Confido)

Thanks Bobby - I appreciate all the great info. I think another thing to not get caught up in is FUD when an ICO or Token you invest in drops for a bit. If you invested a project based on principles that you like and potential value - withdrawing your support as soon as there is a down turn is not helping them. Best to give them some time. I found this out with Horizon State - Decision Token which I invested in at the ICO and got a little nervous when value dropped dramatically after spiking after Token listing. It's recovering now so I'm glad I didn't bail through FUD as I believe in the value of the project.

How can one store alt coins such as substratum or Cardano in a hardware wallet? Or must one leave them on the exchange's "wallet?"

2-factor is an additional layer but even it is getting hacked. CryptoNick claims his 2-factor was hacked because they called his phone provider and was able to basically clone his phone by getting a duplicate SIM card. Hardware wallets with written down keys is the only way to go for large sums.
