Vayechi (Sat. 7th Jan /14th Teiveis)
Your Bucket-List
Laibl's Weekly Parsha Video
The name of the Parsha means life – Jacob’s life which he finally enjoys with family and Torah learning. What are your goals in life? How truly meaningful are they?  Will you chase a bucket-list of experiences or have the benefit of true fulfilment as did our forefather Yaakov?
Notes:
• It is ironical that the name of the Parsha Vayechi, meaning life, describes Yaakov’s demise. But the message is that finally, in the late stages of his life, Yaakov found life-satisfaction that he always sought – a family man enjoying the fruits of his profound labours and also studying at the Yeshiva that his son Yehuda set up for him in Egypt.
• What would you like to achieve in life? Do you have a bucket-list of travel to exotic places of the world and exciting experiences that titillate the mind and heart?
• Yaakov sought neither. For him, just being with family and studying Torah was his bucket list.  And we are told that his final 17 years of a total 148 were his best because he achieved both of these life goals.
• What is your bucket list? Ask yourself – what do you find truly meaningful? Do you lead a purposeful life? How could it become more valuable and profound? How will you view your life from the vantage point of the end of your days?
• Compare your life goals with those of Yaakov. He achieved his.  Will you achieve yours?
