Regenerative braking demonstrated in less than one minute

Regenerative braking is one of the fuel-saving features of most hybrid systems. Using the Consulab EM-200-29 hybrid planetary gear trainer, this video demonstrates how regenerative braking works in Toyota Prius.
The EM-200-29 trainer is designed to have students manually rotate, hold or release each component using hand cranks.

Dude I was on my segway today and almost was out of battery I remembered about this and going down a hill I only hit the electric break and I recharged just enough to make it home with out walking, then I said Physics is awesome

This is like wanting to explain this to yourself once you know something.

That made absolutely no sense to me… didn’t understand anything you were trying to explain

This is why you generally don't rely heavily on the brakes on an ICE, you time it to cruise to a stop. You can avoid braking most of the time if you leave a good distance between you and the car in front of you

In GTA there's a motorcycle that has this feature. I never really understood how it worked. This just made things a little clearer.

With an Optimized BMS and a super capacitor I wonder if you can optimize it

The resistance from his fingers converts kinetic energy to electric energy back into the battery.

The caption is accurate. Demonstrated under a minute; not explained.

I'm going to put my hand on something metal and explain copper mining!

Then which Generator charges the battery wile braking, MG 1 or MG 2

Ever heard of engine braking? (I know the answer is probably yes because the beginning of this Short) Sure it's using gas, however it increases the life span of brake pads so we're not using them constantly. I'd much rather pay for gas than have to replace brake pads that should've lasted longer, therefore me not getting my money's worth out of them. Also less air, less fuel, more compression and lastly, transmission resistance? Simple enough, I can't afford anything like a Tesla much less any EV so that's all I really need to know! I'm also from Minnesota so I don't have to worry too often about engine heat lol! Just keep an eye on coolant and radiator temp and good to go! An EV can regenerative brake but how long is the driver really doing that compared to actual driving time? It's probably great for making it to a charging station! However I highly doubt it can charge the battery even a fraction let alone completely without the assistance of a Charger on a power source. That would require the assistance of going down some pretty long hills for a long period of time and ya gotta get there some how... I could be wrong, I don't own an EV or Hybrid so I'll just say it depends on how often the driver is regenerative braking, which I could only assume is very similar to that of engine braking or jake braking in a gas or diesel vehicle and quite frankly, how often a driver is able to do that depends on how long their trip is, how many areas on the way involve slowing down or stopping, or even enough time to slow down before stopping. Are they using more battery power driving than they're regenerative braking or vice-versa? The more the regenerative braking, the more time they have before having to stop to recharge sure but like any vehicle's new technology, it has it's pros and cons. Regenerative braking may be a genius invention and a useful tool in alot of ways, many ways in fact. But I just don't see how it can help in the long run unless the driver is constantly regenerative braking risking someone rear-ending them. lol! I'm not hating on the technology, it's actually pretty impressive to me! Whether people are driving fuel, electric or hybrid, to each their own. Better to have regenerative braking than to not have it! Just like it's better to have the ability to engine brake, or jake brake, even if that means using a little fuel on your car or big heavy Duty truck. Your brake pads will thank you. 👍👍

On gas vehicle, I thought breaking or leaving the car on; charges the cars battery.

I get it, tho. Heat is converted electricity to charge the ev car battery.

Chat is being dumb af.
Again.

It is a great advantage. But I don't have money for a hybrid or electric car to start with.
