Is Buying A Used BMW (F06 M6) A Bad Idea?

This video turned into a bit more of a rant than I had originally anticipated, but I hope I got my general point across. There is a LOT of information on forums, comments sections, social media about owning pre owned BMW's (and German cars in general) that is explicitly negative. As someone who is extremely passionate about these types of cars, I wanted to share my perspective of how I continue to justify making these purchases and why I encourage other people to do so as well when they are of the financial means.

I am still getting the hang of being in front of the camera again, so I apologize for a few of my grammatical mistakes as well as a few of my over exaggerations where I went a bit off script, lol. I prefer speaking off the top of my head because it is more authentic, but I will often overexaggerate things if I don't specifically prepare facts beforehand.

Note: Thank you guys SO MUCH for blowing up my first M6 video. I have now become partnered on YouTube (again) because that video allowed me to hit the qualifications I needed. I am going to do my best to continue creating content centered around my passion as a car enthusiast. If there are any specific videos you guys would like to see, feel free to let me know in the comments.

Your spec is soooo nice, I love it. Wish I could find one with less than 40k miles with that interior

I’m on my 6th bmw,
E34 m5
E36 m3 vert
E39 m5
E85 z4m
F22 m235i
F25 xdrive3.5i

Only 1 was a lemon 🍋 and I used to abuse it like crazy.
But every bmw I’ve owned has given me 250k miles if not more.
The m5 almost hit e34 500k

I'm going for a 650i and maybe trade up for an M6 when I live somewhere without winter. Planning in 4k in preventative maintenence and then 2k annually is getting set aside just in case. Still need to do more research on common issues but at least I know the common ones. Great advice and enjoy your beautiful M6!!

Finally someone that knows what they are talking about. My garage is filled with the most “unreliable” BMW’s and VW’s and they are the best cars ive ever owned. I work less on them then I do on my relatives Japanese cars and yes that includes Honda

BMW owners can't even be bothered to use turn signals. What makes people think they're going to maintain their car? Buy what you want to buy and get an extended warranty if you're that worried.

You are so right! I bought my wife one, now I’m about to get one. The driving experience alone is worth it!!

Like ur videos bro. I recently bought a 2016 m5 competition. Only reason I bought it is because it was a 2 owner car. And under the second owner the engine developed a bottom end knock. Most likely it bent a rod. So bmw replaced the engine under warranty since car was stock. So the car when I bought it had 58k miles on it engine was replaced at 33k miles. That was the selling point for me. Cuz the s63 it’s now if ur engine will blow by bending a rod or spinning a rod bearing it’s when.

The thing your not mentioning and that’s a bigger issue then rod bearings wearing out which was a bigger issue on the e60 m5 and e90 m3
The bigger issue on the s63 is rods bending due to the massive amounts of low end tq.
Second biggest issue is injector failure they get stuck open and dump fuel and thin out oil and metal in natal contact happens and boom.
But I got my 2016 m5 58k miles only mod was kw has suspension and spacers. With basically a 27k mile engine. For 39k. That’s a steal. Full leather interior loaded

I have a 2015 328i GT with 178k on it . Never gave me issues just normal things brakes oil change air filter ect. Now Im buying a 2013 760Li V12 with 31000 miles only. Anything i should look for and yes i can work on my cars.

I think the m6 coupe is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. What about this? When I go to bmw warranty on a 2015 m6 it says a 7 year or 70k mile warranty is a little over 4k dollars. I would have to look into exactly what this entails and the details but if that’s the case why couldn’t I just buy a 45k m6 and buy the warranty on top of it and forget about it. Have you ever looked into warranty’s or does the whole fix it look after it yourself thing just make more sense to you?

Having owned 4 BMWs makes you an expert?

I have not only owned over 1200, about 35% of them M-models but also modified them for 2 decades and I do not consider myself an expert.

lol, my 2015 Subaru has been nothing but a nightmare, just got to the 130k miles mark and have essentially had to replace every part of my car… new suspension, new wheel bearings, new cv axles, new brakes and pads, new tires, new steering wheel (it was literally falling apart) new shift knob (also tearing and falling apart) so yeah…. That comment about Subaru hit home 😅 oh forgot to mention that there was a period of time where my automatic windows just stopped working completely and a week later all of them except the back driver side window works… so I am testifying that Subarus are shit and I’m actually looking to trade up for a bmw with a b58 😅
