n this clip from an episode of Fargo Talks, Jeff Fargo and Daniel Leo @Itsdaniel_leodiscuss one of Las Vegas’ biggest issues—its broken school system. Despite having a multi-billion dollar budget, Vegas schools consistently rank at the bottom in the country. Daniel highlights how misused funds are a core issue, pointing out that teachers aren’t receiving the resources they need, while schools look like jails.

Jeff raises the idea of breaking up the school districts, such as creating independent districts for Henderson and North Las Vegas. He also discusses how Carson City brought in a consultant who recommended breaking up the system, but the advice was essentially ignored by those in power.

Daniel agrees that while breaking up the districts could help, the problem runs deep. Misuse of funds is a key factor, with money going to things like murals instead of improving the schools themselves.

Cant blame schools when the kids dont give a shit, have no respect, and parents dont have time to teach them when they work all day.

I went to the most ghetto high school in my district, we r literally dead last. Worked, and did volunteer work, went to an ivy league college on almost a full ride. And i didnt learn english until i moved to the USA.

Most kids here dont give a fuck about school. When ur in the 12th grade taking a math class called “MATH” on ur report card, you dont care. Bc our school had algebra through ap calculus.

No amount of funding is gonna fix this. This is a culture/society issue.
