Pakistan to Buy F-16s from Iraq No More J-10C Plans

Показать описание
Description:
Pakistan is planning to buy F-16 fighter jets from Iraq and Egypt, while dropping its previous plans to acquire more J-10C jets. But can Pakistan upgrade these F-16s with help from Turkey or China?
This is where it gets interesting — because Pakistan has done something similar before by upgrading its old Mirage jets with help from China and South Africa. Now, the question is: Can the same be done with F-16s?
Turkey has deep experience with F-16s through its Özgür program, where it’s integrating Turkish-made electronics, AESA radar, and BVR missiles. If Pakistan follows a similar path, a hybrid upgrade using Turkish tech and Chinese weapons could be possible — just like Israel once did.
But there are big challenges: U.S. fire control systems can block third-party upgrades, and reverse engineering is risky, costly, and time-consuming. On top of that, unauthorized modifications can lead to U.S. sanctions or parts supply cuts.
So while the idea looks good on paper, it’s a high-risk move in real life — both technically and politically.
