Should you purchase a Subaru STi or Mitsubishi Evo? These two AWD cars are often compared and contrasted, so here is my take having watched them evolve over the past 15 years.

Mine is Subaru Impreza G4 for driving to work and taking my kids to school... nothing much.
Great car... can't complain.

I'm one of the few that has owned both cars; a 2010 Evo X GSR and my current 2015 STI. I kept them both stock.

Both cars ran like Swiss clocks. Handling, braking, acceleration are dead even.

I personally prefer the STI exhaust note, gearbox, and performance control options. The STI interior quality is a tad better but that's because it's a newer model. Fit and finish of both cars were far better than reviewers claimed.

It really boils down to what brand and heritage you like. Out of all the sports cars I've owned, my STI is my favorite. It isn't perfect, but to me, it's pretty damn close.

Everybody and there grandma has a camaro, mustang, challenger etc. I am the only one in town with an evo x and i love it. I would hate driving down the street and seeing my twin at every corner.

If you guys are worried about STI engine failing then get the 15' WRX, the FA motor is brand new and uses a twin scroll turbo. It's a little down on HP at the top end but it produces much better low end torque than the STI. The boost comes on faster and you have more usable power. From driving a 07' STI and a 15' WRX, I can tell I'm quicker in the new WRX than my STI. I wouldn't buy a 15' STI, I would either wait for the FA motor to get cranked up for the next version STI or just get the WRX. It's also quicker from 0-60 than the STI.

I drove both the '15 STi and the '15 EVO, and man I chose the Subie all day. Evo feels cheap for about the same price

Thats understandable man. Im glad that you have no issues with the car as it is not a cheap investment. But much appreciated with the reply and update. Keep us posted with the car.

When you talk EVO, GSR or MR ? There is a very big difference. If I wanted to have a full race car. The GSR is the way to go. I prefer a MR. with all the options. Great for a DD or take it to the Malibu Canyons. Love my MR.

Was expecting a completely bias video but you did a good job. I agree with your points. The ONLY reason why I stood away from the STi was the EJ. I just couldn't see myself buying the car and kicking myself in a couple years when its replaced by the FA. I also liked the fact that since the Evo will no longer be made, it adds exclusivity. Totally jealous of the STi's interior, though!

VS a 4G motor? EVO X has a 4B11 Motor.

Say what you want about the EJ being a great engine, but its time for an update. I wont invest into an STi until Subie ups their game for it. Its had 300 hp for over 10 years, i mean c'mon Subaru. The Focus RS is gonna kill the Sti in its current stock form.

Sti all the way performance might not be there but it sure sounds nice and even better you can tune it easily

EVO is an all around faster car. It is much more reliable (stock or when modding) seeing how full stock STIs are having engine failure. If you want the faster and more reliable car, go for the EVO. Also, right now you can get a crazy deal on one because they are selling for less than invoice. I just picked up a brand new 2014 EVO x gsr for 30, 999. Out the door price after taxes and license was 34k and some change.

If you plan on keeping your sti stock forever (and that's totally fine if you do), you prefer a nicer interior (sti interior is so much nicer), need that extra 6th gear (having 5 gears sucks for highway mpg. Lol), want your backseats to fold down so you can fit more stuff (EVO backseats don't fold down because the EVO has stability bars for better cornering), go with the sti.

Everyone, wait till mid October of this year, the Mitsubishi evolution FE is coming, Recaro seats, and 305-310 hp. The final edition Evo. I am waiting till that comes out to decide on the sti or Evo. But I couldn't imagine how much the Evo is going to cost.
