I would call Biden center right rather than center left, but the division of ‘centrist’ politicians seems a rather petty quibbling.

By venerable usage, a leftist of any school is opposed to capitalism. The Democratic Party establishment is devoted to preserving capitalism. Biden and company get campaign funding from big money interests not only to hedge the bet, but because some — I think the smarter ones — assess the Republicans’ radical agenda as too risky.
