When Shemellar Davis was pregnant with her first son, her blood pressure elevated tremendously. When her son was born, she was diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy. She then tragically lost her mother from congestive heart failure just three weeks later, which motivated her to take action to safeguard her health and the health of her loved ones. Shemellar is a member of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women 2023 Real Women Class of Survivors.

I am a survivor as well, I got my new heart on January 9 and I am grateful to my donor for allowing me to be with my baby.
