I grew up with a very negative mother. She would always say that the world is coming to an end and so many things are going wrong.

i checked with all three. however, i think a negative view of the world isnt THAT reliable of an indicator these days. the world IS going to sh*t, way more obvious and rapidly than 20 years ago. perceiving "the world" as a negative place is...realistic thinking.
so i would rather rephrase this to "a catastrophizing view of your direct environment". i always like to think, "UNLESS IT IS happening, it HASNT happened, so be cool." theres no need to panic yourself over nuclear warfare, for instance, because you still can do that WHEN it should occur, plus, IF it occurs, its out of your control anyhow and basically all your worries are over. :3
