About ten years ago a guy in my metro area bought an infared device that the police and medics use while on duty in order to change a red light to a green light, during an emergency run. Apparently he bought it on E-bay and he used it while driving to work every morning. He got away with it for about a month using it every morning until the street cams busted him.

About this same time I was visiting a local trade show center which had been going on for years (every weekend). I bought a 4g phone blocker. It worked fairly well and my friends and I would go to the movies and I would turn it on. It was funny to see the high school kids get frustrated with their phones because their signal got blocked. Not sure if I was imagining this feeling, but when it was "on", I got a strange feeling in my head.


A few years ago a guy in E-bay was taking Star Wars and Star Trek phaser toys and re-modding them with working 10 watt lasers. Being an engineer and a sci-fi geek, I thought about buying one but decided against it. I'd probably burn an eye out.
