Gold is still the best investment, however, there are so many nice-looking silver coins that I buy them mostly as a hobby, not worried about making a profit, just have them for their beauty

The way I see it is the more you pay over spot the bigger the risk, even bullion is a risk with the high premiums

It is a superb coin, and to put a mintage of 999 into perspective, there are about 5, 000 major cities in the world so only 1 in every 5 cities could have one amongst the population without taking every other minor city, town and village into consideration. And there are about 60 million millionaires, we would have no chance of owning such if they all decided to become stackers and coin collectors, and i bet if you took every single high permium coin that has ever been minted there wouldnot be enough of them for every millionaire to own just 1.

Depends on the coin and mint but yes for the most part high premium coins are definitely worth buying.

Came across your channel, I been coin collecting for 30+ years but I happen to collect few series in Germania mint as well since very first day they were making series I was attracted to the designs on silver rounds . Mostly collect the lower mintage proofs, yes I pay more than what melt value is … I don’t care I like collecting them they aren’t for sale anyways ….

I do believe there will be a market for them in near future with collectors probably fall under “Exonumia” collector’s category with medals and tokens a lot older classic coin collectors look down on them like it’s rubbish only worth melt and so on …. I could say the same about millions and millions of Morgan dollars out there they ain’t worth $500-$800 only worth melt value ! Only reason Morgan dollars are up in prices is due to collector’s markets that driving the prices up without that market even high grade Morgans are only worth melt value …. So the same can be said in near future on some of the Germania mint products being produces today there just might be a collector’s market where we are willing to pay higher prices for certain silver rounds

It is beautiful, but it's a double edge sword many premium coins never retain the premiums or do so only temporarily. The ones that do make a fortune though. A product like this has two issues 1) smaller pool of potential buyers 2) not many people know they exist so the pool is even smaller. Its art really that just happene to be made out of PM . I also font believe there is any skill in choosing the 1 in 10 that make it, some sure fire winners fail amd some meh make it.

Personally I prefer silver and gold coins which are very liquid - and I prefer really boring designs so I will not become attached to them 🙂 In principle you can manifest any design imaginable on a piece of metal via a die - there is no end to it. But we cannot own them all. If some collectors prefer artful designs - then that's the way to go!

Beautiful coin, thank you for sharing. It would be great to collect these sort of coins though you do need to be in a very comfortable position financially in order to practically consider it. If you can afford and want the best, go for it. However, these products are hard to sell except as bullion.
