There's something ironic about the USSR being able to utilize American subsidies on domestic wheat to prevent starvation in the USSR.

It wasn't the Soviets fault the Americans subsidize their food

Lest we forget that time a town in WV tried desperately to get funds to build a needed bridge to help connect it with the main roads and nearly got that funding from the Soviet Union until the federal government caught wind of the deal and THEN decided to green light the funds.

I love how instead of the inflation matching the fact that a third of the supply went missing, the demand tripled

This is the funniest thing ive heard yet present the broken parts of both broken systems. One sells to their biggest enemy and even hurts their own population doing so while the other cant even produce enough food to sustein its own people, hurting them also

Fun fact, Russia has a lot of fertile land (and used to have more since they controlled Ukraine), however, their chief of agricultural science or whatever didn't believe in evolution, instead, he believed in some other theory, which made the USSR crop yield decline massively, ultimately making them need to buy American grain despite having been called Europe's bread basket in the past
