Did he say that the Battail is to avoid kavitation?
As an engineer I can tell you that statement is nonsense. Kavitation might MAYBE occur on a really long and thin racefin when you go 60+ km/h but not on short fins and certainly not on the planing surface of the board.

You can't build up enough speed and pressure on freewave/wave boards for kavitation to happen. You'd get a spin out due to flow seperation before kavitation happens
