1978 MG MGB Review, a great compact car !!

I review a 1978 MG MGB, the engine has a lot of torque for its size, and the gearing is nice. You have to push quite hard on the brakes to stop, but the car is a lot of fun to drive. The quality of the car's body is really good. The doors have line up pins on the striker plate so the door always closes straight, and the latches, and hardware are really good quality. Its a small car, but a really fun car.

A year ago I acquired a `78 MGB with new top & freshly rebuilt engine. Got a great deal on it and after decades of American muscle cars I`m having more fun than ever, especially with today`s fuel prices.

People love these cars. They're completely repairable at home, people regularly do everything from replacing the lights to rebuilding the engine themselves. Their biggest problem is the electrical system, then the chassis rotting from damp/snow/salt. A crap-ton of these have been raced over the years, stripped down and roll caged, engine balanced, tuned, etc. Loads of people drive these today, carefully maintaining and preserving these fun little cars. There's a North American MGB Registry with thousands of these tracked by their owners like a club, there's dozens of MG Car Clubs around the country dedicated to having fun in all flavors of MGs (and really any old sporty (and many not-so-sporty) car). And these are still fairly cheap, you can pick up a rust free, fine running example for $6k to $10k. A fully restored perfect example won't be more than $25k.
