I highly recommended it! I’ve been doing it for years and you do have a lot of freedom to do what you want on your own schedule and you do meet more locals when you travel alone. For me that’s a main reason to do it because I’m traveling to another culture or country to learn about that culture country. I do sometimes join small group guided tours and I also do travel with friends and family.

The problem with solo travelling for me is that I get scammed easily and people ask me rude and inappropriate questions which I do not feel comfortable in asking.

Hey, thank you for this video! I think it is what I needed to hear. I am planning to do a gap year. I just graduated school. (German “Abitur”) Till now I am not really sure what to do with the gap year. And I do not really have a traveling buddy, so I guess I just need to do it on my own. (Would be my first time) My feelings towards it are a confusing mixture between fear and excitement. I’d love a longer video about your general solo traveling experience for some extra inspiration and motivation to take the leap. 💜
