Petar's cymbal overtone control is the work of uncoupled vs coupled mass. It's like adding a gate to your instrument. You get almost all the initial attack and tone and then when the muffler falls back down on the surface it cuts out the sound starting with the highest frequencies first. Why a lot of drummers put their wallet on their snare.

Coupled mass is less like a gate and more like a low pass filter.
