NFL kicker Harrison Butker: Woman should be the 'homemaker'

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is facing backlash after making comments about his wife during a graduation speech over the weekend — and encouraging women to embrace their role as “homemakers.”

I as a women who had a college education and put it aside to take care of my twins who’s dad didn’t help and I went from working and having money to struggling am so glad and blessed I spent my time on my twins they are great and doing perfect in school and athletics. It takes sacrifices to raise well adjusted adults.

"Get an education and a high paying job so no man can threaten your safety, security, and pride."

Being a stay at home wife will always be a luxury. Education is a privlage. Freedom to choose is a right.

At the end of the day who cares what a mans opinion of what a woman can or can't do. So ladies and gents chose your own path. May God bless you on your journey to sucession.

No wondering he’s speaking to a University in the middle of nowhere and Catholic… so don’t be shocked!!! It’s an unknown university…if he goes and gives the same speech in schools in the big cities, he would be booed by the graduates. 😎

No one should be critical of women who choose to be stay at home moms. However, it's just sexist for any man to tell women that their only legitimate role is to care for their husbands and children and that they need to have both a husband and children to be truly a woman. Even at this very conservative school there are women who have aspirations beyond being a housewife. Who does he think he is to tell them what their role must be and what it cannot be!

My only concern is that he wasn’t as adamant on addressing men to be full providers, kind, great fathers and husbands and faithful to their partners. That addition to his speech would have created balance.
