The emerging CBD industry has been a beacon of hope for many South Africans, creating employment opportunities and fostering entrepreneurial growth. The prohibition would lead to significant job losses, affecting families and communities that depend on this sector for their livelihood. Moreover, many business owners have invested heavily - both financially and emotionally - in this industry, trusting in its potential and future growth.

Halting the use of CBD in food products would not only devastate these businesses but also discourage future investments in other emerging industries, dampening economic growth in our country.

whenever govt decisions are made and you don't know why, just ask yourself who stands to financially gain from that decision.

Who are the government to tell me what I can or can't do with my body. Cannabis use is everyone's personal right of choice. Not some minister lost in his own head looking for a window outside.

Seems like this is the new MODUS OPPERANDI by Government. Keep quite and gazette it without allowing public input.

Thank you Mr. T.
Minister really needs to be educated. About this grain. We talking about real deal here. Even the president said south Africa is going to be on a spearhead in terms of economy thriving when it comes to hemp. This country's economy depends on this since it is going to eradicate poverty and increase job opportunities.

Someone in the ANC wants a cut, thus the bogus ban.

What if ANC actually wants unemployment to rise?
If that is the case then we need to move forward

This is ridiculous and Aaron is a financial joker. He should retire. Let people earn a living as is their constitutional right. AND why further destroy our economy which is serious weakened by corruption 😡

There's a year i took all the guys i work with and my community in my car to go vote, i think i should go transport them again and maybe even get a bus, the ANC needs a 5 years break so they can focus on their renewal

Not like we need the jobs. Shut it all down!
"You will not be bringing down unemployment on my watch!", the Health Minister when pressed for comment.

If there was ever a time and a reason to convince the youth to vote now, it would be it, and this would be it. We don't care about much but don't fuxk with my herbs.

The signature was actually signed in 2024 and changed to 2025 - How can an amended document be submitted! This whole thing makes no sense!

So many inaccuracies in this interview. It adds to public confusion instead of clarifying things. Hemp imports have not been banned. The regulations simply limit what can be done with the cannabis plant. You can still produce local, or import seed for animal feed for example (although I'm not sure why you would import seed for that purpose).

While I do not agree with the blanket ban on cannabis products in foodstuffs, Newsroom Africa need to get more informed people to speak on the topic.
