The eq you wrote is for the current though inductor and from the image i am guessing that i(t) is current from other side of the switch i.e. after the closure of the switch. So the eq cannot be used directly to compute the current

but in question the required current is at t = 0.5 sec not at t=2 sec

We have to calculate at t=0.5 ec. Pls correct it
