Bananarama did the song originally in 1984. Ace of Base covered it in 1998 and Taylor Swift covered it in 2019.

Btw I love how Amy is a pro when it comes to doing a unique version of a cover hehe, she can turn a pop upbeat song into a meaningful piano ballad full of new emotions and meaning on the way she sings the lyrics.... she has done this already with 3 or 4 cover songs... "Purple Rain" by Prince, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston, "Love Exist (L'amore Esiste)" by Francesca and the one you just reacted to "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama... oh and the Beatles cover too "Across the Universe"

With their new albumThe Bitter Truth, they put out several deluxe versions, they could've almost release a 4 song Cover EP on their own haha... I mean if they wanted to, bc they covered Bananarama, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and Portishead for this album, the first 2 covers appear on the standard Deluxe edition, and the other 2 are in the special featured cassette and DVD ith the performance from Live @ the Falcon Studio. Anyway yeah, it's great they gave die hard fans extra stuff, the whole cassette has some interesteting non used mini songs, and the demos and first writting sessions of some songs in the album, all that info is so precious to have, the behind the scenes of it all, they also released on Amazon Video a full documentary on the making off the album. I'm still loving each part of everything in the new album. BUT" You Jeff my friend still need to discover all the old but gold music from them hehe

It's Amy and Troy doing a cover. So it's like half of Evanescence but not an original Evanescence song.
Edit: You got all that by the end. You should check out the original if you haven't heard it before. It's WAY different.
