For a song that is called "Everyone Knows That", the song got lost into into obscurity that nobody know that exists until it's found.

It could also be a demo from a band that broke up shortly afterwards. That's almost certainly what happened with "The Most Mysterious Song" too.

It's so creepy to me that everyone who hears this audio feels like they've heard this song before but no one actually knows what it is.

My dad has been a radio host/audio engineer since the early 80s, said he instantly recognized it as a song by The Weather Girls 😂 I definitely don’t think he’s right, but he said “I swear I played that on the air!” But then he couldn’t find anything about it either. So crazy. He said he thinks that someone made this song very recently and made it sound old to draw lots of attention/mystery to it so when it IS finally found/released, it’ll already have a captive audience. That’s one theory I guess! Either way it’s been stuck in my head for a few days now

I'm a musician and something that stands out to me with this audio is the fact that it uses a style and melody that's similar to a lot of popular songs that were around in the early to mid 80's. So that feeling of familiarity probably just stems from the fact that it sounds so similar to songs that already exist.

I can't explain it perfectly, but "Everyone Knows That" gives me such an unnerved feeling. It's a great song and I would love to hear the rest of it, but I can't shake the eerie feeling around it. Maybe it is the low quality or the fact that its considered "lost". But, listening to it alone in my room at night has definitely creeped me out just a little bit. It almost feels like I am not supposed to be listening to it.

what everyone is missing is that it could be from a background music tape. they were given to malls stores etc for a time and then taken back to be destroyed and replaced with new tapes and songs. good thing about these background tapes is that they are categorized, meaning that you only have to look through pop songs with vocals. if anyone has a background music collection they should be able to help to confirm if this song is from those tapes or not

It's a shame how we can't even find an extended version. This song is a banger

The fact that there was a real person that sat down and recorded this song and now all records of it are just completely lost, and now there’s only a 17 second audio clip of it is just crazy to me.

Why doesn't someone just do a cover version of it, release it, and wait for a lawsuit to come in? Then you at least know who has the rights to it.

just give the song to 4chan, they'll find out the song, the album, the producer, his wife's name, and how long they shit on their 10th birthday

I think the most frustrating part of all this is that the little bit of the song we can hear is REALLY GOOD. I’m especially a sucker for corny, synthy pop songs just like this and would really love to hear the whole thing– Part of me is tempted to just say “screw it” and put the 17-second clip on my Spotify playlists anyways lol

A comment in the remaster version stated that she asked her friend's mom and she recognize it. Her best theory is that it was an unreleased song by Boy George called "Web of Lies". So far, this is the best theory, because that voice almost sounds like Boy George's voice.

To me, it definitely feels like a song that would be specifically produced for an ad.

I swear if this song turns out to be some big joke and the original poster is laughing their ass off at us speculating and being creeped out I’ll cry 😭

The lyrics + production are too good to be for a simple ad (or toy), which makes it even more puzzling. How could a decent, catchy song just go unnoticed by the entire world? Unless of course, the source guy created it as the ultimate troll lol. It's hard to trust absolutely anything online these days. But if not, this really is gona be one of the longest mysteries!

It definitely feels very generally like that 80’s sorta era of music, and likely feels sort of nostalgic due to it sounding similar to lots of other songs and types of songs.

To me it sounds like an early 80's pop song by George Michael, or Boy George of Culture Club. Part of the "New Wave" pop genre back then.

In the 80s singles often had B-sides that were not on the albums or anywhere else, and since they were exclusive to the singles it means they are usually also not on streaming, or widely available anywhere else, so it'd be worth people with 80s music collections scouring their b-sides. Different countries also had different b-sides on the same single sometimes, so a co-ordinated worldwide hunt would be needed.

If this freaked you out you'd be terrified of unreleased songs given only to DJs to be played at clubs or raves. Terrifying!
