I wonder what is the meaning of the incomprehensible size of the universe. The numbers of stars & planets and the distances across galaxies & between galaxies is almost absurd.

The universe has to be infinite. For it not to be the endless dark empty space would have to come to an end and be replaced what? What could replace the space? It has to be eternal because the alternative is that there used to be nothing and then something came into existence. You can't get something from nothing so there must always have been something - hence no beginning.
