"I didn’t go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of Port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity."
–C. S. Lewis, God in the Dock

Lenin and Stalin saying religion is an opium is their own pride and disdain for other people having any shred of goodness in their life despite being thrown into the face of suffering on earth.

Jesus, God calls himself the healer for that which is broken in spirit.

Call it a drug, call it weak and petty, but the difference is that Stalin and Lenin hated seeing Christians happy.

Stalin and Lenin thought the world would be a better place and fight the universe with it in mind that it's one tragic mess of chaos.

They branded being Christian as a numbing agent to real life.

But the real numbing agent, is brainwashing yourself into thinking you are god and you are in control of everything.

All this discourse around Marx and I am reminded of a wise old Albanian proverb: ‘Do not ask your friend for advice; ask your enemy and do the opposite.’

I honestly don’t think people would have made up Christianity solely because of comfort. A religion designed to comfort the masses wouldn’t have a concept of an eternal Hell. There might be a Hell for really awful people, such as rapists and murderers, but not your everyday flawed person. The only sin would be infringing on the rights of others, but other than that, people could do as they pleased. Obviously, God holds mankind to a much higher standard. The purpose isn’t to comfort us; it is to save us.

It’s a difficult path as each believer is commanded to take up his cross and follow. Not at all an opiate. Quite the opposite. It’s the highest challenge a person can take on. Particularly for men who have more of a propensity to go their own selfish way before realising, if they ever do, that it’s hopeless. No one can surpass what Christ already achieved

Yes, Religion is the opium of the masses but christ is the savior, humanity has to understand the difference between being religious and being saved by Christ. Religion begets patterns of do and don't that merely interprets the law Christ is the consciousness we all should strive for through faith and by so doing the spirit of the true God illuminate our being to the Rights and obligations of the sons of God as the book of Galatians clearly admonishes...
Christians need faith in action through accurate knowledge.

I'm not going to tell you this is really good. Because this is a bit over that. What this is, is amazing truth. I don't want to die and go to heaven now. I see this is the best place to be right now so we can change the world to make it a better place.

What is an opiate? An opiate is, essentially, something that eases suffering. Religion does do that, or at least has the capacity to. But to use that as a reason why it's bad for the masses makes no sense. Everyone on the planet is slave to something that alleviates their suffering. This is not inherent to religion and, in fact, I would argue that religion makes it more difficult to engage in worldly pleasures that would ease suffering. If one truly believes and sticks to their religion then they aren't going around engaging in drugs and s3x to alleviate their suffering. Those things are transitory and short-term. Religion provides future relief from suffering by holding to the belief that your faith will be rewarded in the afterlife by eliminating your earthly suffering entirely.

Its not the worship of power but power of domination as the reward of worshipping Satan. It's a covenant. *"Bow down to me and Worship me (Satan) and all these glorious kingdoms and empires shall be yours."*

As an ex opiate user, Christianity is on the furthest opposite end of feeling good.

And as someone who has also been in the atheist mindset, ….. that particular belief has left me so prideful and arrogant that i started automatically thinking that anyone who disagree’d with my atheistic resolve was just plain wrong and with none of my own actual honest enquiry on my part into the things i was doubting and not even considering the problems of my position, pride was the very first thing that offered itself up…. And it felt good.
And i took it and caused more damage in my own life than im willing to admit.

But when i orientated my mind and heart to the practice of Christianity, more accurately >Jesus< …the damage wasnt coming from me anymore, not claiming i was all of a sudden perfect but the change was undeniable…. It was almost like … the world operates in a particular way depending on our personal resolve of it
and when i slowed my heart and mind down my resolve of the world and God was able to change … and just like that!!
i wasn’t addicted to myself anymore.

In my humble opinion…. Atheism is definitely the opiate for the masses
