The biggest life lesson to learn is when to say NO!

They wont take the CD back if u try to hand it back. Just leave it on the floor and walk quickly away

Pro tourist here. Keep looking forward and tell anyone that tries to stop you "no thanks" and keep going. Do not stop.

As a native New Yorker, my only advice is avoid these scammers, period

I got scammed by the CD guys but I was totally aware of it. I was showing my Swiss friend around and they started talking to her and since she’s super friendly she chatted back to them. When they saw me try to step in they got really agressive and physical so I just took out a $20 and gave it to them. For shits n gigs I tried playing the CD which of course was blank. Best part was this one lady was explaining to me that the music had « clean lyrics, you can listen with kids around » but on the back of the CD the fake song titles were super explicit 🤣

These CD scammers are the WORST! Told law enforcement and they fled and never came back. 😂

Ken (Action Kid) barely escaped getting beat up by some of these guys - I don't know why the Police won't crack down on these scammers

They never give you the change back. Just discussions. Say NO

First time I went to New York one of these guys stopped me and said here I give these away for free. I started walking away and he said whoa whoa whoa, I take donations. I told him I didn’t have any cash. He ripped it out of my hands and turned away. I learned quick

I kinda want to bait one of these guys and then rob them when they confront me
extratrillestrial
there should be a law to protect tourists from these scammers

I had a cd dude hand me one in nyc...before things got dicey we figured out we were both from the same hometown so he just let me go without an argument.

All you have to do is say no thank you and keep walking it's not that hard. And I've been around the world where I have run into some pushy people and they've never gotten me.

I just don't talk to random strangers on city streets. Works well enough

I live in New York, near times square in fact and you will always get approached by people who want to sell tickets to the statue of liberty and it is a scam or a double decker tour ride
Lucia_Swiftie
Also to note is that when ever NYCC or any other convention is around, they tend to be a block away from the convention to hand you the CD.
SubwayWalkman
Put your face on... some women will know what that means... also, a sharp, blunt NO. Gets your point across. Giggling and nervous? They gotcha.

I actually almost got scammed just like her in LA. I was about to pay for the disc until the dude started acting suspicious. That's when I tried to return it but he refused and a cop approached us thinking we were selling drugs lol (I'm Latino and he was black so ig that makes sense)
